The Boothbay Region Fish & Game Association has proudly achieved a long-standing goal by establishing a dedicated fund to support the youth of our organization as they prepare for their future endeavors. While funds of this nature are often referred to as scholarship funds, we have chosen to name ours the Clayton Dodge Life Skills Award, a title that reflects both the spirit of the award and the values it represents.

The Clayton Dodge Life Skills Award is designed to provide meaningful assistance to young people pursuing a wide range of post–high school paths. Award funds may be used for college, technical, or vocational school expenses, as well as for the purchase of books, tools, equipment, or other materials necessary to support the recipient’s chosen field of study or vocation. The Association is made up of members from many walks of life, and this award seeks to reflect that diversity by supporting multiple educational and career paths.

The award will be presented once annually during the calendar year in which the applicant graduates from high school. To be eligible, the applicant and or their sponsoring parent or grandparent must have been a member in good standing of the Boothbay Region Fish & Game Association for a minimum of three years prior to the applicant’s graduation date. In selecting a recipient, the Association will consider scholastic achievement, demonstrated social and community values, and financial need.

The award recipient will be announced at the time of graduation. Distribution of funds will occur after the recipient has demonstrated the successful completion of either their second semester of academic studies or six consecutive months in their chosen vocation. Funds will be disbursed directly to suppliers of goods or services with whom the recipient has incurred expenses related to their educational or vocational pursuits.

Applications for the Clayton Dodge Life Skills Award may be submitted beginning January 1 and must be received no later than April 1.
